AN ACT
Amending Title 61 (Prisons and Parole) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in Pennsylvania Board of Probation and
Parole, further providing for parole power.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 6137 of Title 61 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
§ 6137. Parole power.

( f.1) Escape while incarcerated.--
(1) The board may not release on parole a person who
commits the offense of escape under 18 Pa.C.S. § 5121
(relating to escape) while incarcerated and is convicted of
that offense.
(2) If a person commits the offense of escape under 18
Pa.C.S. § 5121 while incarcerated and is convicted of that
offense, the person shall be sentenced to a period of
supervision of 24 months consecutive to and in addition to

any other lawful sentence issued by the court.
(3) This subsection shall only apply to persons
sentenced on or after the effective date of this paragraph.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
