(2) Any employment activities or duties performed by a
corrections officer in accordance with an agreement executed
under paragraph (1) shall have no bearing or impact on any
existing rights or liabilities of any kind or description
under any applicable Commonwealth or county pension plan.

Section 2. Section 1733 of Title 61 is amended to read:
§ 1733. Appointment of warden and employees.
(a) General rule.--The board shall appoint a warden of the
county correctional institution. The warden, subject to the
approval of the board, may appoint such deputy or deputies,
assistant or assistants or corrections officers as may be
required in the taking care of the county correctional
institution. The number and compensation of such deputies,
assistants or corrections officers shall be fixed by the county
salary board.
(b) Staff augmentation.--
(1) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the warden
may contract with any external Commonwealth, county or
multicounty regional prison corrections officer or retired
corrections officer for the purpose of temporarily employing
the corrections officer to augment the county corrections'
staff, subject to the approval of the board and the
corrections officer's union, if applicable.
(2) Any employment activities or duties performed by a
corrections officer in accordance with an agreement executed
under paragraph (1) shall have no bearing or impact on any
existing rights or liabilities of any kind or description
under any applicable Commonwealth or county pension plan.
Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
