A RESOLUTION
Directing the Joint State Government Commission to conduct a
study on the development and implementation of a campaign
contribution reporting system that requires contributions to
be reported within 24 hours of receipt, establish an advisory
committee to assist with the study and issue a report of its
findings and recommendations to the House of Representatives.
WHEREAS, The amount of money in politics continues to
increase year to year and impacts campaigns and our system of
government; and
WHEREAS, The current finance disclosure process in this
Commonwealth creates long lags in the timely posting of campaign
contributions; and
WHEREAS, The people of this Commonwealth are entitled to
accurate and timely information about the individuals and
special interests that are funding a campaign; and
WHEREAS, By requiring campaign contributions to be reported
within 24 hours of receipt, voters will have the ability to
quickly determine how the contributors to a campaign impact the
support level for a particular candidate; and
