A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of October 6 through 13, 2023, as
"Manufacturing Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Manufacturing is the lifeblood of the economic well-
being in our Commonwealth generating more than $112 billion
annually in State gross domestic product; and
WHEREAS, Manufacturers employ more than 564,700 hardworking
Pennsylvanians on the plant floors; and
WHEREAS, Millions of additional Pennsylvania jobs are
directly sustained by manufacturing in supply chains,
distribution networks, warehousing and logistics; and
WHEREAS, Manufacturing jobs have above-average wages and
benefits, averaging an annual income of more than $86,000, 33%
higher than nonmanufacturing sectors; and
WHEREAS, The stigmas that manufacturing is dirty, dangerous
and unfulfilling often remain uncontested; and
WHEREAS, More awareness is needed to attract students and
young people to look at the manufacturing sector for
