A RESOLUTION
Designating July 22, 2024, as "Hemihyperplasia Awareness Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Hemihyperplasia, also called hemihypertrophy, is a
congenital disorder, causing overgrowth of one side of a child's
body in comparison with the other; and
WHEREAS, Hemihyperplasia may be isolated, occurring without
any signs or symptoms; and
WHEREAS, Hemihyperplasia may be a sign of another medical
condition such as:
(1) Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.
(2) Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome.
(3) Proteus syndrome.
(4) Neurofibromatosis Type I.
(5) Russell-Silver syndrome.
(6) Sotos syndrome;
and
WHEREAS, Symptoms vary depending on the child, but can
include difficulty eating, chewing, seeing and breathing; and
