A RESOLUTION
Honoring and recognizing the contributions of workers on Labor
Day.
WHEREAS, The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on
September 5, 1882, in New York City; and
WHEREAS, Twenty-three states adopted Labor Day as a state
holiday throughout the United States by 1894; and
WHEREAS, President Grover Cleveland in 1894 signed
legislation making Labor Day a Federal holiday; and
WHEREAS, Labor Day is a holiday that recognizes the
historical contributions of those who campaigned for workers'
rights and participated in the early labor movement; and
WHEREAS, Labor Day remains a significant occasion that
recognizes and celebrates the hard work, dedication and
invaluable contributions of workers across our nation; and
WHEREAS, Workers have played a pivotal role in the
development, progress and prosperity of our society,
contributing to economic growth, innovation and the overall

well-being of our communities; and
WHEREAS, The accomplishments and achievements of workers from
diverse industries and sectors deserve recognition, as they have
shaped the fabric of our nation and helped establish a
foundation for a brighter future; and
WHEREAS, It is essential to express gratitude and
appreciation for the commitment and resilience demonstrated by
workers, particularly during challenging times when their
efforts have been paramount in ensuring the stability and
continuity of essential services; and
WHEREAS, Labor Day presents an opportunity to reflect upon
the significance of job security, fair wages, decent working
conditions and the protection of workers' rights; and
WHEREAS, Through their collective power and unwavering
dedication, workers have consistently advocated for the
betterment of the quality of life for all individuals; therefore
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor and
recognize the contributions of workers on Labor Day, expressing
gratitude for their relentless efforts in promoting growth and
prosperity; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives reaffirm its
commitment to safeguarding workers' rights, improving workplace
conditions and ensuring fair treatment for all employees,
regardless of their occupation or background; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage
employers to foster a safe and healthy work environment,
implementing policies that prioritize the well-being and
personal development of their workforce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge residents of

this Commonwealth to express gratitude and appreciation for the
numerous contributions of workers, both within their communities
